2014 MAD Student Case Competition

The Fifth annual Student Case Competition presented by the APICS Mid-Atlantic District was held February 21-22, 2014 in Pittsburgh, PA. The Brandywine Valley Chapter was proud to sponsor a team from the University of Delaware Lerner College of Business, Operations Management program. The team competed against 11 other large school undergraduate and graduate teams.

The UD team impressed the judges with their written and oral presentation skills. Students were given a case study at 7:00 pm Friday night about a Canadian end of life pending legislation that Whirlpool Corporation was facing. The team had to come up with solutions on how best Whirlpool should manage the recycling of their products in Canada. The team worked through the night to prepare a 5 page paper and 7 minute oral presentation. Their innovative solutions, grasp of Operations Managements theories and systems, and overall presence impressed everyone with whom they came into contact.

Even though the team did not place in the top three this year, the Brandywine Valley Chapter is very happy to support students reach their goals in the field of Operations.
