Hunger is a community problem. It’s not a problem that can be solved by just the Food Bank of Delaware or the network of hunger-relief agencies. To solve it we need the entire community’s involvement. Our Chapter is participating by organizing a volunteer effort to provide much needed help.

Volunteer Opportunity:
We will be volunteering at the New Castle County location at 222 Lake Drive in Newark.
This short video provides you with an overview of volunteering:
Volunteering at the Food Bank of Delaware

Thursday July 23 - afternoon:
This timeslot is reserved for APICS Brandywine Valley Chapter Volunteers
12:45 - arrive at the facility
1:00 to 4:00 PM volunteering

Details from the Food Bank of Delaware:
We are limited in the number of volunteers allowed to assure that special protocols due to COVID 19 are followed.
We will be requiring volunteers to bring and wear masks to each volunteer event as per the CDC’s recommendation.

Governor Carney’s amended state of emergency order now requires volunteers to take their temperature the day of the volunteer event and answer the three questions listed below:
1) Does the individual have or report a body temperature at or above 99.5 degrees?
2) Does the individual have symptoms of respiratory infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath, severe sore throat, or muscle aches)?
3) Has the individual been in close contact (e.g. within 6 feet for more than a few minutes) with a person with confirmed COVID-19 infection?

By checking in onsite for your volunteer event you confirm that you have taken your temperature and have answered “no” to all three questions.
If the answer is “yes” to any of the three questions, you are prohibited to volunteer.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in making this work space as safe as possible and again thank you so much for supporting the Food Bank of Delaware in one of our greatest times of need!

Volunteers should expect:

  • Tasks will vary depending on the needs of the Food Bank.
  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer independently.
  • Volunteers will be on their feet for the majority of the time
