Topic: Risk Management 101

Speaker: Barbara Young

Details: With recent changes to international standards came a new emphasis on “risk based” decisions. Risk Management 101 presents the basic concepts that can be used for integrating risk management into business practices and provides guidance for setting up a formal risk management program.

Speaker Biography: Barbara Young is currently a Quality Risk Manager for Siemens Healthineers.  Barbara’s experience is primarily related to the healthcare market, and she has also past experience in non-healthcare industries. Her career positions have included lab technician, medical technologist, product developer, manufacturing engineer, auditor, process black belt, trainer, production plant quality manager, and contract consultant.

Barbara earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology, and master’s degrees in Materials Science and Business Administration. She has earned multiple ASQ certifications, and is past chair of the CRE (certified reliability engineer) certification committee. She earned her 6 sigma Black Belt and Lead Auditor certification during her association with J&J.

For fun, Barb enjoys traveling the less traveled paths via hiking, backpacking (roughing it), and glamping (glamor camping). She has visited 6 of the 7 continents and 47 of the 50 states. She has a black belt in martial arts and is a practitioner of Tai Chi and Yoga.
